It would be great if they would release the original series on DVD with the original special effects, all touched up and perhaps the odd bit of improvement, without changing the enterprise to the point where it looks like a toy from a computer game, instead of Starfleets finest method of travel.NoiseWare Community Edition is a well known and popular software for both the home and office computer systems. The 3D enterprise is a BIG let down, but the new generated planets and other effects whilst on the planets (such as in the Menagerie with the little flying shuttles in the windows/background) are excellent. 3D Graphics are good, but the ones used in the Enhanced Star Trek, would have made a great remake of the Animated series, but are not good enough to replace solid objects in the TV series. I hope one day in the future, that becomes a reality. Now if they had gone to the Smithsonian Museum and said “Please can we borrow the original Enterprise”, then put some modern day special effects on top of it, such as lighting and the odd touch up, some new planets and star fields, That would have made a far superior improvement to the show. The 3d Generated Enterprise feels somewhat Jerky on TV, it also looks TOO GREY and does not have that bright friendly glow of the original model. So, digitally copy and paste, say, two of those intermittently buldging parts to two, additional areas of the prop as it moves (resulting in, for example, three moving budges per side.Īs much as I love Star Trek and I think the picture quality is fantastic now they have finally cleaned up the original slides. Returning to the Horta example, the obvious, four human limbs moving under the horta prop are what make it visually cheap. However, do something with them digitally add to, erase, airbrush…whatever the most laughable visual elements while retaining the prop’s overall original appearance. Go ahead with keeping the original versions of, for example, Flint’s M-4, Nomad, the Horta, the psudeo Rastafarian Cocker Spaniel (“The Enemy Within” episode) and so on. totally keep” discussion, I have a third suggestion. So, instead of entering into an “totally change vs. Taking one episode as an example, after viewing the Horta in the updated clips, it seems that the original alien props, no matter how cheezy, will not be visually ‘replaced.’ I understand the reasoning behind this decision. I would like a ‘middle road’ approach to alien digital enhancements. My comment is general, applying to a good number of episodes featuring ‘aliens.’

In circle time settings, assistive technology helps students by keeping instruction and sharing time fun. It’s where your students interact and learn social skills, and it’s also where you deliver group instruction for the day’s activities and tasks. Group time, like circle time, plays a crucial role in a student’s education. A big part of learning is understanding how actions lead to events, such as how performing a math function leads to a correct solution or predicting what would happen if a button is pushed on an assistive technology device, such as a capability switch.Īssistive technology helps students make connections between cause-and-effect relationships, making them feel in control of their learning and boosting their self-esteem.īrowse Assistive Technology Products 2. The projector is still on when muted! When a user presses Projector Mute, a sixty (60) minute timer begins. It was observed that users might incorrectly mute the projector instead of shutting the system down when they are done. The mute timer is present on Crestron systems which utilize Projector Mute. Once the timer is up, it will shut down the projection system and touch panel. Every time you press a button on the touch/button panel, the timer resets to its maximum value. If you aren't sure whether the timer is close to expiring, simply press any button on the touch panel. The idle timer turns on when a room is powered on. Large lecture halls (such as in Bulger) are set to six (6) hours, to account for events and other functions which take place more frequently there. For most rooms, this timer is set to four (4) hours. The idle timer on most Crestron systems is a feature which automatically shuts off the system if the interface (touch panel or button panel) is not used for a period of time. Failure to shut down the system when not in use wastes display hours. On Crestron touchpanel systems, there is a button marked "Exit" or "System off" on the panel. PLEASE NOTE: When you are finished using a room, please follow the proper procedures to shut it down. Use the following command in the terminal to install Google Chrome to your Ubuntu system. The NGFWH is currently being tested by F-22 fighter pilots, Lee said, with B-1 bomber pilots next on the list. Originally, more than 100 concepts were in the running, Rietdyk said, but now just two remain: LIFT and GenTex, the maker of the 55/P, which has a next-generation helmet in the race. Should the NGFWH be accepted, it will be the standard helmet for all fixed-wing Air Force aviators except for F-35 pilots, who already have their own cutting-edge helmet. The Air Force started taking crowd-sourced user suggestions back in 2018, and private companies ran with the ideas from there. The process to find a new helmet has been going on for some time now. Guido Rietdyk, the president of LIFT Airborne Technologies, which created the NGFWH, said testing is scheduled to complete in late 2023, with a production contract to commence sometime in 2024. With so much high praise, you might expect the Air Force to have bought a bunch of the Next Generation Fixed-Wing Helmets in bulk by now, but that hasn’t happened yet. There are different activation settings pilots can choose, but Lee demonstrated using a short clench, followed by a long clench, to activate the pair of lights on his helmet. Unlike those past ideas, the next-gen helmet is activated by a button which gets pressed by the pilot’s jaw muscles when he or she clenches their jaw. Some pilots tried strapping lights to their fingers, or wearing tongue-activated lights on their oxygen masks, but Lee found those solutions clunky or unappealing. In the past, pilots brought flashlights to read flight documents, but that meant they had to take a hand off their flight controls to hold the flashlight. Those lights help with reading maps or other documents inside the cockpit, but that’s not the cool part. Lee said his favorite feature of the new helmet is a pair of lights mounted to its sides. Hedges' g effect sizes measures suggest pretest–posttest one‐group AR studies have moderate effects (g = 0.541) while comparison group AR studies have marginal effects (g = 0.278). Participants included 16,653 students enrolled in elementary, middle, and high school. A total of 44 studies from peer‐reviewed journal articles and dissertations met the inclusion criteria. This study investigated potential moderating variables, including publication type, participant, and study characteristics that impact student reading outcomes. A meta‐analytic review of the AR was conducted to analyse its effectiveness as an evidence‐based intervention for improving student reading achievement, attitude, and motivation. The program aims to enhance students' reading achievement and encourage students to read more through goal setting and frequent reading practice. The limitations of this study and directions for the cluster, policy and research are discussed.Īccelerated reader (AR) is a computerized reading program commonly used in schools. Our data suggest that the reports had very little impact on existing provision, and some schools continued to use the same interventions. One year later, we conducted a follow‐up study to assess if schools’ knowledge of the evidence for the interventions, presented through a summary report, had an impact on their provision. We then conducted a rapid systematic review of the literature for these interventions and found that 30% had some evidence of positive impact on pupil outcomes, 67% had no published evidence, and 3% had causal evidence to suggest they were ineffective. Following screening, we included 138 of these in the analysis and categorised them according to the ‘SEN Areas of Need’. Using questionnaires, we evidenced 242 interventions. We conducted this study to assess the range and evidence of interventions used in a school cluster in Wales, which comprised two secondary schools, seven primary schools and one special school. Little is known about what intervention programmes/approaches are used in schools and whether they are evidence‐based. Instead, approaches to teaching and learning are often informed by trends and the opinions and experiences of practitioners. Although some practitioners now access the external research evidence when deciding which interventions to adopt in their school, research suggests many still do not. The last decade has seen an increased focus through policy and research for schools to move towards an evidence‐informed practice. |
